- Mike and Chris, and the first day of spring ... -
I've had the pleasure of knowing Mike through a mutual friend for many years now, so when I heard from him asking if I was available for his wedding to Chris last week I enthusiastically said that I would be honored. Mike was excited that they had chosen March 20th - the first day of spring - for that very reason. However, typical of the unpredictable western PA transition from winter to spring, it snowed all day. I mean ALL.DAY. If there were daffodils peaking out from the previous day's 50-degree invitation, they had to grab their winter coats because you could have sworn it was December.
That said, in true Mike fashion, he and his sweet husband Chris were incredibly good-natured about the whole thing and were more than willing to stop in white-out conditions for a few photos on their way to their ceremony by Judge Hugh McGough (the first judge to marry a same sex / LGBTQ couple in Pittsburgh). I loved everything about this day - especially how flexible and accepting Mike and Chris were with the foot of snow that was nature's wedding gift to them, on this first day of "spring".
Thank you for being such good sports, Mike and Chris! Here are a few of my favorites ... :)
