- Judy and Bob - Weddings at Olivia's in Pittsburgh -
There was no better way to begin the 2018 wedding season than to be the photographer for Judy and Bob's wedding last week at Olivia's in Pittsburgh. It's not just that it was an especially cozy atmosphere on this cold winter evening, and the bride, groom and guests were friendly and kind, but that this smitten, young at heart couple, was in their eighties. What better reminder that love knows no age, and most definitely, no age limits.
I don't know the details of where Bob met Judy, or what it was about the other that brought them to this, their wedding day. I just know that in the few hours I was there I saw a couple that seemed like they have been together for a lifetime. It's the way they would look at each other, and the way Judy would cuddle up to Bob wherever he was, like that was her favorite place to be in all the world. Their adoration for each other filled the softly lit room, and you could tell that every single person there was thrilled for them, and happy and that two deserving people had found love once again.
Some favorite moments from this sweet wedding: During the vows, Bob nervously started saying his vows to the minister, (not the first time I've seen that happen...) and Judy's smile and laughter literally seemed to light up the dramatically lit ceremony. It was an especially cute moment. Other favorite moments: During the cake cutting, Bob dropped cake down the front of Judy's dress, and the sequence of photos showing how he handled the predicament is something wedding photographers wait a whole career for. And finally - Judy became a great grandmother just the day before, so her daughter (the bridesmaid, and the baby's grandmother) brought photos to the wedding to show Judy. I just love those moments - Judy's first look at the great granddaughter that she will see so many times in her new life. I think only a grandparent can imagine how profound that moment is, when you see your daughter's first grandchild for the first time. I was so glad I was there to capture that moment between mother and daughter, - now grandmother and great grandmother.
Here are a few of my favorites from a wedding I was truly honored to witness. (Click on each image to see them enlarged - especially the cake cutting sequence!)
