Lena and Rob - Pittsburgh Wedding Photography - Fox Chapel Golf Club
Meet Lena and Rob - two of the sweetest people you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting, should you be lucky enough to meet them. Separately, they are kindness and sincerity, and the very best of these qualities. Together, they are a powerhouse that will change the world, person by person.
We had only talked on the phone before their event, as they had just moved from San Francisco to Seattle, so I was really looking forward to finally putting faces to the voices once they arrived in town the week of their wedding. I am always honored to be the photographer for an event as special as a wedding, and especially so when the couple is putting so much faith and trust into me without even meeting me in advance. When we finally did meet, just a couple of days before the wedding, it felt like I had known them for years. It's not just that we had corresponded and spoken on the phone, it's that Lena and Rob just make you feel that way - like they have known you, and you were never strangers.
Some favorite moments from this unforgettable wedding at the Fox Chapel Golf Club, a lovely venue and one of my favorites in Pittsburgh: The atmosphere in their hotel rooms as they prepared for the day. Both Lena and Rob are doctors, and so each room had it's own medical conversations happening, which was both entertaining and informative. (I learned more about osteoporosis and fungal infections than I ever thought I would leading up to the day, and could probably answer any questions you might have about either. I know that a prescription salve is needed for one of them.) / The incredibly intimate and romantic song that Rob had written for his beautiful bride as a surprise that he played for her at their first look. So sweet! / The way they honored Rob's 90-year old grandmother, who they thought would not be able to attend until the last minute. / Lena and Rob's entrance to their ceremony as they literally danced down the aisle. / The beautiful ceremony and personalized vows, complete with readings by beloved relatives and friends (from some of my favorite authors). / The energetic and FUN first dance, which was a lively rendition of dance steps that included an invitation for everyone to join in. I know they will dance through life together this way, so it seemed the perfect "first dance" as a married couple. / The fun and moving speeches, including a revival of a band that Rob was part of in his medical school days - totally taking him by surprise. / The WAY FUN reception, thanks in part to Elite Showband, whose music was so great that even Rob's 90-year old grandmother got up to dance and a guest literally split his pants dancing!
Lena and Rob, thank you so much for the honor of being your photographer. It, like meeting you, is an experience I will never forget.
